INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Cassandra Martin, 27, of Lexington, was arrested Tuesday at White Oak Hill of Addiction Recovery Care in Inez for contempt of court. Sheriff Kirk states in his report that Martin was court-ordered to rehab at White Oak Hill, but left the facility.

Stephen Moore, 50, of Warfield, was arrested Nov. 14 at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on a warrant for contempt of court and a bench warrant. Constable Bradford Preece served the warrants.

Dustin Stacy, 34, of Warfield, was arrested Nov. 14 at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on a bench warrant. Deputy Wall served the warrant.

Eric Crum, 42, of unknown address, was arrested Nov. 13 on Setser Branch in Debord for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled substance first degree (drug unspecified) and drug paraphernalia – buy/possession.
Sheriff Kirk and Deputy Wall were dispatched to Setser Branch on a report that Crum was armed with a gun and refusing to leave a resident’s shed. Officers instructed Crum to exit the shed with his hands up, which he did. Police said Crum confirmed that he had a shotgun. During a search, officers found a syringe and a pill in his pocket that Crum reportedly identified as Suboxone.

Homer Harless Jr., 51, of Debord, was arrested Nov. 12 at the Martin County Courts Building in Inez for obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest. According to the police report, Harless was a passenger in a vehicle whose driver was cited and whose vehicle was being impounded. Harless allegedly pulled the keys from the ignition and placed them in the pocket of pajamas he was wearing under his clothing, refusing to hand them over to the sheriff when he was told the vehicle was being towed. Police said he then refused to get out of the vehicle after being told he was under arrest, resisting each time the sheriff attempted to pull him from the vehicle. Once outside, Harless refused to put his hands behind his back to be cuffed.

Austin Harless, 30, of Debord, was arrested Nov. 12 on Court Street in Inez on a warrant charging him with falsely reporting an incident to law enforcement and second-degree disorderly conduct. According to a criminal complaint filed by Sheriff Kirk, Harless made at least 10 calls to Martin County 911 between Sept. 29 and Nov. 6, reporting incidents that were false in an effort to lure law enforcement to his residence for the purpose of harassing them.
According to Sheriff Kirk, on Nov. 2, Harless called 911 claiming he was unable to access a graveyard and wanted law enforcement to escort him. When Deputy Jimmy Robinson responded, Harless told him he was “just doing this to prove a point.”
Three days later, Harless reported receiving threatening communications. Deputy Steven Putman responded and Harless again stated he was “trying to prove a point by calling.”
On Nov. 6, Harless reported that “drug addicts are patrolling Davella Road.” Sheriff Kirk arrived to investigate, but Harless began cussing and harassing the sheriff, behavior that “wantonly created a risk of public disturbance,” the complaint states.
Investigators say Harless has engaged in a pattern of calling in complaints to Martin County 911 to force responses from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, then berating officers when they arrive, chastising them over response times and alleging they ignore serious crimes.
Harless has stated he wants the Kentucky State Police to respond instead. According to the complaint, officers have repeatedly advised him to call KSP directly, but he continues calling Martin County 911.
