Bobbie Jane Swimm
1943—2025

Bobbie Jane Swimm, 81, of Brushy, Pike County, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends at her home.

Born Dec. 20, 1943, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, she was the daughter of the late McKinley and Julia Sester Maynard.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Swimm; siblings Vada Alice Yates, Johnny Maynard, James Arley Maynard, Anne Belle Andrews, Lucille Maynard Mullins; nephew, Fonso Gilliam, who was more like a brother; and other nieces, nephews and extended family.

Bobbie was a faithful Christian and an honorary member of the Piso Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many.

Survivors include her children, Teresa (Harry) Arnett and Remona (J.C.) Stacy, both of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Bailey, Monica (Matt) Adams, Matthew (Brittany) Stacy; and two great-grandchildren, Aliegha and Scarlett. She also leaves behind four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include her siblings, Nora Jean (Woody) Smith of Pikeville and Richard (Ellen) Maynard of Genoa, West Virginia, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, at the Piso Freewill Baptist Church with Bobby Mullins, Joe Mullins and Brent Tackett officiating. Burial followed at the Swimm and Stacy Cemetery in Brushy. Mullins Family Funeral Home of Warfield is honored to serve the family.
