
Prentice Meade
1928—2025
Prentice Meade, 97, formerly of Kermit, West Virginia, passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at the Martin County Health Care Facility in Inez.
Born Oct. 26, 1928, he was the son of the late Roy and Tennessee Meade.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Aileen (Horn) Meade, sisters Irene (Don) Perryman of Midland, Texas, Lois (David) Vires of Ona, West Virginia, and Ima (Floyd) Moore, Dublin, Ohio, and daughter-in-law Drema Meade of Pilgrim.
Prentice married the love of his life Aileen on Sept. 9, 1950.
He was a pastor at Elizabeth Church on Wolf Creek for 27 years.
Prentice is survived by daughters Judy (Isaac) Fletcher of Pilgrim, Joyce (Billy) Akers of Lexington; sons, Billy Meade of Pilgrim, Donnie (Loretta) Meade and Ronnie (Judith) Meade, both of Inez; grandchildren Kevin Akers, Alesha Collins, Krystle Cothran, Brandon Fletcher, Marshall Meade, Matthew Meade and Jessica Preece. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Chloe Adkins, Maxton Meade, Molly Meade, Collin Serafini, Chandler Preece, Luke Preece, Justin Cothran, Pazlee Fletcher, Lilah Fletcher and Kambria Fletcher; and one sister, Betty Robinson.
Funeral services took place Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025, at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, with Terry Hamm and Lonnie Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home.
