Hugh Melvin Perkins
1948—2025

Hugh “Melvin” Perkins, 77, of Webbville, peacefully went to the Lord in the early hours Oct. 20, 2025, at the house in Inez.

Born April 2, 1948, at his parents’ house in Webbville, he was the son of the late John W. Perkins and Flora Berry.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons Hugh Melvin Perkins Jr., Anthony Brian Perkins and Brian Keith Perkins; brothers Arthur Perkins, Wayne Perkins, Roy Perkins, Paul Perkins and Roger Perkins; sisters Annie Walls, Pauline Morgan, Marie Blythe, Opal Ratliff and Velce Perkins; and stepchildren John Wesley Perkins and Marie Messer.

Survivors include Melvin’s sons Tommy (Bernette) Perkins of Inez and Jay Perkins of Webbville; daughter Melina (Lonnie) Spillman of Webbville; stepdaughters Faye (Lil Man) Swisher, Katt (John) Shaver, Sina (Kriss Legg) Messer; sister Dorthy Comer; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at the Mullins Family Funeral Home in Warfield. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial followed at the Perkins Family Cemetery in Webbville.
