Breaking News: Police presence in Inez after hunter reports human remains

INEZ — Police are investigating after a hunter reported finding skeletal remains Monday evening in Martin County.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office, the Kentucky State Police and the coroner are now in the hills off Route 908 in Inez.

Police got a call around 8:30 p.m. from a man who was hunting off Coldwater Road when he stumbled upon what he said was a human skeleton.

Martin County Sheriff John Kirk and deputies immediately converged on the area where the KSP joined them at 9:30 p.m.

Though unconfirmed, emergency workers expect police to cordon off the area and stand guard overnight to keep trespassers away while the investigation continues.
