The Cardinals opened with momentum as Landon Estep broke free on the first play from scrimmage, running from Martin County’s 40-yard line to the Boyd County 40.

Quarterback Braxten Pack then connected with Estep for a 28-yard gain before the drive stalled at the Cats’ 20-yard line.

Boyd County answered immediately, breaking an 80-yard touchdown run and converting the 2-point attempt for an 8-0 lead.

The Cardinals’ offense suffered a setback when Pack exited the game with an injury and did not return.

Trailing 24-0 in the second half, Martin County found a spark from running backs Ryder Little and Bentlee Chapman.
