
Garry Ronald Lafferty
1954—2025
Garry Ronald Lafferty, 70, of Inez, passed away Oct. 9, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Healthcare in Lexington.
Born Oct. 27, 1954, in Paintsville, he was the son of the late Felix Elmer Lafferty and Dolores Irene (McCarty) Lafferty.
Garry was a tremendous leader in Martin County, serving as Deputy Judge Executive, School Board Chairman, Housing Authority Director, and his favorite role, President of the Civic League. His commitment to public service reflected his deep love for his community and his desire to make Martin County a better place for future generations.
Garry also had a lifelong love of music. He began performing at a young age, sharing his talent for singing and playing guitar wherever he went. Over the years, he played alongside his family and friends in his band, The Lafferty Brothers, bringing joy and entertainment to countless gatherings and community events.
Outside of his public service and music, Garry found peace and happiness in spending time outdoors, cheering on the UK Wildcats and Cleveland Guardians, and creating lasting memories with his family.
Garry’s songs, his laughter, and his love will continue to echo through all who knew him.
Survivors include Garry’s wife, Elyonna Rose (Brown) Lafferty of Inez; one son, Garry Braxton (Olivia) Lafferty of Inez; four daughters, Crissie Dawn Lafferty Williamson of Louisville, Misty Marcum of Warfield, Alisha Howard of Martin County and Brianna Lafferty (Casey) Delong of Cincinnati; three brothers, Larry (Barb) Lafferty of Sun City, Florida, Lon Lafferty and Randy Lafferty, both of Inez; and one sister, Debbie Preece of Paintsville.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Paislee Lafferty, Kash Jude, Willow Lafferty, Giddeon Williamson, Ezzra Williamson, Immrie Williamson, Jesta Fitch and Otto DeLong.
Funeral services took place Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at the Crum Funeral Home in Inez with Jared Waller officiating. Burial followed at the Cassady Cemetery in Inez. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home.
