WARFIELD — A bizarre call about a man stripping down to his underwear at a Warfield business ended with the suspect facing a slate of drug charges Friday.
Martin County Sheriff John Kirk responded to the complaint around 4:45 p.m. He found 36-year-old Sherman J. Vance III of Dingess, West Virginia, at Warfield Auto Outlet.
The sheriff reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from Vance’s vehicle and three syringes and digital scales in plain view. Vance allegedly admitted there was marijuana inside.
A further search of Vance’s truck uncovered approximately 20 grams of marijuana in a container, a crystal substance wadded inside a $20 bill, four round pills that Vance reportedly identified as Klonopin, and a powdery substance inside a metal container attached to a key chain.
Vance was arrested on charges of public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol), possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance first degree (methamphetamine), possession of controlled substance first degree (drug unspecified), drug paraphernalia – buy/possession, and possession of a controlled substance first degree (fentanyl).
