Drive-thru food distribution Oct. 2

INEZ — Facing Hunger Foodbank will make a difference in the lives of residents in Martin County by hosting a drive-thru mobile food distribution Thursday, Oct. 2 at Martin County High School.

The distribution will take place at 137 Hollybush Road in Inez from 11 a.m. to noon or until supplies run out.

Volunteers and members of Facing Hunger Foodbank expect to serve more than 150 households on a first-come, first-served basis to help address food insecurity in the community.

According to the organization, 25% of Martin County residents live with food insecurity, including 33% of the county’s children.

Facing Hunger is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization affiliated with Feeding America, the largest hunger relief agency in the United States. Its mission is to help feed hungry people by distributing nutritious food and grocery product through a nearly 300-pantry/agency network. The organization serves approximately 130,000 food-insecure individuals, including over 37,000 children.
