
Clyde Franklin Chafin
1939—2025
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Clyde Franklin Chafin Sr., 85, of Stepptown, West Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at Three Rivers Medical Center.
Born Nov. 20, 1939, in Wayne County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Everett and Della Marcum Chafin.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Clyde Chafin Jr., brothers Bill Chafin, Blondie Chafin and Rick Chafin, and sister Naomi Webb.
Clyde was a retired coal miner and superintendent as well as a barber. He was a Pentecostal minister.
He is survived by Janie Jeffery, mother of this children; daughters Denise (Larry) May of Wayne, Melanie (Claude Hamrich) Curry of Charleston, Janie Michelle Chafin of West Van Lear, Kentucky, Gwen (Pat) Fluty of Crum, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren with special great granddaughter Jemma May, brothers Homer Chafin, Donald Chafin and Ray Chafin, three special family members Rick Curry, Terista Warren and Clyde “Patch” Chapman, and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services took place Monday, Sept. 29, 2025, at Mullins Family Funeral Home in Warfield, with Ken Allen officiating. Per his request, cremation followed. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
