
INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Eric David Smith, 50, of Lousia, was arrested Sunday at 8:01 p.m. on Buffalo Horn Road in Martin County on a bench warrant. Deputy Jameson Wall served the warrant.

Dannie Hall, 58, of Inez, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Sunday on Saltwell Road in Inez on a bench warrant out of Floyd County. Deputy Putman served the warrant.

Jonathan Kirk, 48, of Boons Camp, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Saturday on Route 40 in Tomahawk on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of controlled substances, resisting arrest, no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of owner to maintain required insurance/security, rear license not illuminated and inadequate silencer (muffler).
Deputy Steven Putman responded to a report of a white full-size Chevrolet swerving “all over the road.” He found and followed the vehicle, which at one point stopped in a curve blocking traffic. Putman said Kirk had bloodshot, glossy eyes, failed a sobriety test and refused to comply with instructions.
According to the report, Kirk stated he was not going in handcuffs and resisted when deputies attempted to take him into custody.
“He resisted and fought with us until we got him cuffed,” Putman said.

Haskel Justin Mills, 39, of Inez, was arrested Friday on charges of terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct. Deputy Wall made the arrest.

Julie Fitzpatrick, 47, of Inez, was arrested Friday on Old Route 3 in Inez on a charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place.
Constable Bradford Preece responded to a complaint at 9:55 p.m. that a female was walking in the middle of the road. He stated Fitzpatrick had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her and could not follow orders or pass a sobriety test. She allegedly admitted she drank “several beers.”

Danese Deon Chaffins, 34, of Inez, was arrested Friday at 9:38 p.m. on Rockcastle Creek Road in Inez on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substances, possession of controlled substance first degree (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, possession of controlled substance first degree (hydrocodone), possession of controlled substance second degree (drug unspecified) and possession of controlled substance first degree (cocaine).
Sheriff Kirk observed Chaffins crossing the center line and said she continued crossing the center line after he activated his blue lights. According to the police report, Chaffins had glassy eyes and failed a sobriety test. She allegedly admitted to hitting a THC vape.
The sheriff found a paste-like substance in a glass jar, marijuana in a pouch on the driver’s seat, and 42-1/2 hydrocodone pills inside a plastic bag. After arresting Chaffins, the sheriff witnessed her stuffing something into her underwear, the police report says. Upon arrival at the jail, he informed the corrections officers, who retrieved a baggie containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

Elwood Robertson, 45, of Williamson, was arrested at 9:56 p.m. Thursday on Collins Creek Road in Warfield on a bench warrant. Deputy Putman made the arrest.

Michael Mills, 27, of Warfield, was arrested Thursday on a bench warrant.

April Nicole Howell, 38, of Inez, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Sept. 17 on Bandmill Road in Pilgrim on charges of receiving stolen property, criminal trespassing and tampering with physical evidence.
Sheriff Kirk responded to a call about a burglary in progress. Upon his arrival, he encountered Howell carrying several bags containing shoes, towels and numerous other articles. Howell stated that she picked up the items at Judy Pauley’s house.
“She told three different tales as to how she got these items,” Sheriff Kirk noted.
Howell allegedly stated she found 30 Xanax pills on Pauley’s porch and she ate them.
On the way to the booking room, Howell reportedly told the sheriff she was hot and asked him to crack a window. According to the sheriff, she then proceeded to throw a wallet out the window that she had taken from the Pauley residence.

Rosanna Bowen, 35, of Debord, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. Sept. 17 on Ernest Porter Drive on a bench warrant. Deputy Putman served the warrant.

Justin Matthew Fletcher, 35, of Inez, was arrested at 10:34 p.m. Sept. 17 on Rockhouse Road in Tomahawk on a charge of assault fourth degree (domestic violence), no visible injury.
Deputy Putman responded to a 911 hangup call at a residence on Rockhouse Road. When he arrived Fletcher opened the door and invited him inside. A female in the home was making hand signals that led the deputy to believe she was in danger. Putman asked Fletcher to walk outside and talk about what was going on. According to the police report, Fletcher stated that he and the female had a minor argument, but nothing physical occurred. He said he busted the rear window out of the car so she could not leave.
When the officer went back inside to speak with the female, a juvenile reportedly spoke up saying Fletcher had been acting crazy and had hit the female a few times. The female allegedly stated Fletcher took her keys, busted her phone and would not let her leave. She said he slapped her in the head three times, grabbed her and pushed her into the wall.
