Dolores Irene McCarty Lafferty
1934—2025

Dolores Irene McCarty Lafferty, 91, of Inez, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Sept. 18, 2025.

Born June 23, 1934, in Floyd County, she was the daughter of the late Harry Gordon McCarty and Pauline Bunting McCarty.

Dolores dedicated her life to her family and her community, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness and devotion.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felix Elmer Lafferty; infant daughter, Teresa Lynn Lafferty; her parents, Pauline and Harry McCarty; sisters, Peggy Swartz and Wanda Elmer; one brother, Gordon McCarty; and one grandson, Brent Weaver.

Dolores is survived by her loving children: Debbie Preece of Paintsville, Garry (Elyonna) Lafferty of Inez, Larry (Barb) Lafferty of Suncity, Florida, Dr. Lon Lafferty of Inez and Charles Randall Lafferty of Inez.

She was a proud grandmother to Dr. Tiffany Mills, Derek Michael Preece, Brandon Lafferty, Brad Lafferty, Corey Lafferty, Cole Lafferty, Crissie Dawn Lafferty, Alicia Howard, Misty Maynard, Brianna Delong, Braxton Lafferty, Tyler Lafferty, Tanner Lafferty, Trey Lafferty, Kristen Curran, Colin Lafferty, Kaitlin Lafferty, Chase Lafferty and Brandy Morrison. She also leaves behind 30 great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Dolores will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith and deep love for her family. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.

Funeral services took place Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez with minister Shawn Tussey officiating. Burial followed at Cassady Cemetery in Inez.
