NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Tug Valley’s Bryson Elia is the America’s Quickmart of Blacklog Player of the Week.
Elia turned a storm-delayed Friday night into his own highlight reel, powering the Panthers to a 51-16 win over Sherman at Bob Brewer Stadium.
The All-State running back was unstoppable from the opening kickoff. In just two quarters of play, he racked up 224 rushing yards and four touchdowns. By night’s end, he had carried the ball 21 times for 314 yards, found the end zone five times on the ground and added a 16-yard touchdown reception to his tally.
His explosive runs cracked the game wide open, giving Tug Valley a commanding 32-16 lead at halftime despite multiple lightning delays that pushed kickoff well into the evening. With the game firmly in hand, the clock ran quickly in the fourth quarter, but not before Elia cemented one of the top performances of the season.
Afterward, the humble star credited his teammates for paving the way.
“I just want to appreciate all my teammates for setting me up to succeed and always making sure the blocks are there,” Elia said. “We saw weaknesses in the defense and attacked them and that was our game plan, so I feel like we executed that well.”
