INEZ — A Martin County grand jury Thursday handed up indictments against eight people. Charges include drug possession, wanton endangerment, bail jumping and assault.

Danny Mollett, 47, of Inez, stands accused of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine), tampering with physical evidence, possession/use of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
Mollett’s indictment stems from his arrest June 5 near Mollett Cemetery on Rockhouse Road in Tomahawk. Deputies responded to a call about a man standing in the roadway. Officers said when they arrived, Mollett was dancing and talking to himself in the middle of the road. Law enforcement reported that as they exited their vehicle, they saw Mollett move toward his vehicle’s passenger side and throw an object, which he allegedly later stated was “dope.” A subsequent search uncovered a pipe consistent with methamphetamine use, police said.
Mollett’s bail is $5,000.

Christopher Muncy, 35, of Tomahawk, faces two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, reckless driving and all-terrain vehicle violations. Prosecutors allege that on June 15 Muncy created a substantial danger of serious physical injury or death to two separate juveniles. According to the indictment he recklessly operated a motor vehicle without regard for the safety of pedestrians or other vehicles. The indictment states that Muncy committed all-terrain vehicles violations by operating an ATV on the roads. His bail is $5,000.

Shawn Hopkins, 30, of Inez, is facing charges of fleeing/ evading in the second degree (motor vehicle) and reckless driving. The grand jury states that Hopkins disregarded the signals and commands of Sheriff John Kirk on June 3 in an attempt to flee. The indictment states Hopkins operated a motor vehicle recklessly without regard for the safety of pedestrians and other vehicles. His bail is $5,000.

Thornton Eddie Goble, 62, of Louisa, stands accused of five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. According to the indictment, Goble’s actions April 29 placed Gail Goble, Courtney Preece, Cory Preece and two juveniles at risk of serious injury or death. His bail is $5,000.

Jeremy Scott Williams, 32, of Kermit, West Virginia, faces a charge of second-degree fleeing and evading in a motor vehicle. Prosecutors say he failed to stop when signaled by Sheriff Kirk on June 6. His bail is $5,000.

Douglas Sparks, 56, of Dingess, West Virginia, stands accused of bail jumping in the first degree. The indictment states that Sparks failed to appear for arraignment July 17 after being released from custody on the condition that he would appear in connection with a felony charge. His bail is $5,000.

John Allen, 38, of Debord, is accused of bail jumping in the first degree. The grand jury states that Allen failed to appear for a pretrial conference June 5 after being released from custody on the condition that he would appear in connection with a felony charge. His bail is $5,000.

Bryon H. Marcum, 61, of Lovely, faces charges of first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault. The indictment alleges that on May 31, Marcum created a substantial danger to Ronda Marcum and intentionally caused physical injury to a juvenile. His bail is $5,000.
