William Jay ‘Butch’ Crum
1940—2025

William Jay “Butch” Crum, 85, of Shady Springs, West Virginia, formerly of Inez, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 2025, at the Hilltop Center Nursing Home.

Born March 18, 1940, in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Jesse and Lelia Mollett Crum.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Minnie Williamson Crum; four children, Bruce Crum of Shady Springs, Grace (Jeff) McDowell of Blaine, Kentucky, Ersela (Robert) Jordan of Shady Springs, and Robin (Rick) Jones of Mount Hope; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Faye Mills of Huntington.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2025, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, Kentucky, with Jason Crum officiating. Burial will follow at the Fitzpatrick Cemetery in Kermit. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home.
