BELFRY — Senior quarterback Devan Maynard powered Martin County High School to a 44-20 victory over Pike Central in the Pike County Bowl on Thursday night in Belfry.
Maynard completed 8 of 16 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns in a game that saw Martin County senior Kenadie Evans crowned as Miss Pike County Bowl Queen at halftime. He also rushed for 147 yards and three TDs and scored a two-point conversion.
Freshman Dillion Daniel added 68 yards on the ground and a TD.
Maynard’s aerial attack connected with junior Liam Fields three times for 93 yards and a touchdown, while junior Jerrod Haney caught two passes for 36 yards and a score.
Junior Crayson “Bones” Lafferty battled his way through for 38 yards rushing on six attempts. He also caught a pass for a 6-yard gain.

Junior Rex Ward, sophomore Brayden Fannin and senior Gavin Stepp each wrangled in a pass.
On special teams, junior Sebastian Genovese converted 2 of 3 extra-point attempts.
The Cardinals successfully executed a trio of two-point conversions with Fannin, Stepp and Maynard rounding out their 44-point effort.

Martin County dominated on the ground with 253 yards rushing.
The team will look to carry the momentum into the next matchup at Betsy Layne on Sept. 5.
