GREENUP — Martin County youth football celebrated a hard-fought victory Sunday as the third-grade squad defeated Greenup County on their home turf 12-6 in overtime.
David West broke loose from the eight-yard line to score the game-winning touchdown in OT.
Waylon Porter completed two passes for 47 yards, while West rushed for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns.
Eli Greer led the team on the defense with six tackles, including one tackle for a loss. He also caught a pass. Lukas Mays contributed both offensively and defensively, recording one reception and five tackles, including a tackle for a loss. His standout play came with a critical open-field tackle on Greenup County’s three-yard line, sending the game into overtime.
The third-grade team returned to action Tuesday against Tug Valley. Details were not available at press time.
