WARFIELD — A Warfield man landed in jail Saturday after deputies said he beat a female and threatened to kill “her and the baby” — even though the woman told police she cannot get pregnant and has never been pregnant by him.
Deputy Jameson Wall of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Kristopher Daniel Moore at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on charges of fourth-degree assault (dating violence, minor injury) and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
The deputy responded to the scene at 5:15 p.m. after reports of an active domestic violence incident. According to the police report, a female stated that Moore had been drinking when a verbal altercation escalated into violence. She told the deputy that Moore struck her in the stomach and face, bit her lip and ripped her shirt.
The officer noted multiple bruises, swelling on her head, a busted lip and other visible injuries.
The female also reported that Moore threatened her, saying, “I’m gonna kill you and the baby.” However, she clarified that she cannot become pregnant and has never been pregnant by Moore. She stated that she had to fight Moore off as he continued hitting her in the face.
Moore allegedly admitted to punching the woman “a few times,” claiming it was in self-defense.
Witnesses told the deputy that when Moore is drinking, “he is not himself” and “is unpredictable.”
Deputy Wall reported that Moore smelled strongly of alcohol and appeared heavily intoxicated. He said empty liquor bottles were lying beside the bed in the living room.
