INEZ — Martin County Youth Football’s third grade team put up a fight on the road Aug. 20 before falling 20-14 to Prestonsburg in a rain-soaked contest. They battled a tough Boyd County team at The Rock on Sunday in a game that ended in a 20-20 tie. The sixth-grade squad fell 28-12 to BC.

Waylon Porter and Eli Greer powered the Cardinals in the first half against Prestonsburg. The pair each broke loose for a 60-yard touchdown run to send the game into halftime tied.

Mother Nature forced a 30-minute delay when thunder and lightning rolled through at the break. Coming out of the stoppage to a double rainbow, Prestonsburg struck quickly to take the lead.
