Martin County Sheriff John Kirk

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s office reported the following arrests:

Scottie McKenzie

Scottie McKenzie, 53, of Wittensville, was arrested Monday on Route 3 in Inez for possession of a controlled substance first degree (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance first degree (drug unspecified), trafficking marijuana 8 ounces to 5 pounds, possession of controlled substance first degree (methamphetamine) (complicity), drug paraphernalia-buy/possession (complicity), operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substances, and an indictment warrant from Johnson County.

Deputy Steven Putman stopped McKenzie after observing a tinted plate cover on his vehicle. Upon further investigation, law enforcement discovered a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and half an orange pill in separate clear baggies inside the car. According to the report, McKenzie identified the orange pill as suboxone.

Melissa L. Jude

Melissa L. Jude, 49, of Tomahawk, was arrested Monday in Tomahawk on a bench warrant for court. Deputy Jameson Walls served the warrant at 11:30 p.m.

Justin Marcum

Justin Marcum, 38, of Inez, was arrested Monday on Marcumtown Road in Inez on a bench warrant for court. Deputy Putman served the warrant.

Ricky Sartin

Ricky Sartin, 61, of Beauty, was arrested Sunday on Gordon Hollow Road in Beauty on an indictment warrant. Deputy Putman served the warrant.

Larry Joe Horn Jr.

Larry Joe Horn Jr., 57, of Inez, was arrested Sunday on Flora Johnson Road in Inez on a bench warrant for Lawrence Circuit Court. Sheriff Kirk served the warrant at 10:04 p.m.

Dawson Fields

Dawson Fields, 23, of Tomahawk, was arrested Saturday in Inez on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Sheriff Kirk received three calls saying Fields was driving an ATV while under the influence of alcohol. The sheriff reported that Fields had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and could not complete a sobriety test.

Brian Howell

Brian Howell, 46, of Inez, was arrested Friday for fleeing or evading police, criminal trespassing, criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others $500-$1000.

Sheriff Kirk and deputies were dispatched to Airport Road in Debord after a Booth Energy security guard reported seeing flashlights inside a building on the property. Deputies soon encountered Howell, who fled on foot while carrying an orange-handled knife.

After a foot pursuit, officers apprehended Howell. Deputies said they later found cut copper in the area from which Howell had fled.

Robert Runyon

Robert Runyon, 45, of Beauty, was arrested Friday at a safety checkpoint in Warfield on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest at 11:28 p.m., stating that Runyon had slurred speech and drool coming from his mouth.

Shawn Marcum

Shawn Marcum, 18, of Louisa, was arrested Thursday on Marcumtown Road, Inez, on a warrant charging him with fourth-degree assault (minor injury). Deputy Putman served the warrant at 8:07 p.m.

Zachary Delong

Zachary Delong, 29, of Debord, was arrested Aug. 20 on Setser Branch in Debord for probation violation (felony offense). Constable Bradford Preece served the warrant at 9:09 p.m.

Garnet Scott

Garnet Scott, 36, of Lovely, was arrested Aug. 20 on Route 1714 in Lovely on charges of wanton endangerment in the first degree and terroristic threatening in the third degree.

Chief Deputy Chris Kidd responded to a 911 call from social workers for the CFHFS, stating Scott threatened to “kick their a– and kill them.” While the deputy was en route to Maynard Flats, 911 received another call from the witnesses saying Scott attempted to run them over and ram them in her vehicle.

According to the police report, Scott was able to leave the location after stating that social workers were not taking her kids. Witnesses said Scott then sped off recklessly from the location.

“I was then informed the female was heading toward 3131 Riverfront Road, possibly to get the kids and flee,” Deputy Kidd reported.

Upon arrival at Riverfront Road, the deputy encountered the female holding two small juvenile girls. He gained control of Scott, detaining her with restraints.

Witnesses provided a video of Scott stating to a worker, “You are not taking my kids, wh—.” A witness also provided a short video of the female getting into a vehicle and backing toward the state car. The video cut off due to the worker calling 911.

Doris Jude

Doris Jude, 65, of Pilgrim, was arrested Aug. 20 on North Wolf Creek, Lovely, on a charge of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), no visible injury.

Deputy Putman responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in progress. The caller stated that Jude was chasing Buddy Jude down the road with a mattock.

When officers arrived, Jude placed the mattock on the ground and agreed to leave the residence. However, Putman reported that while Jude was retrieving belongings inside the house, she walked past Buddy Jude, who was sitting on the steps, and punched him in the back.

“It knocked the breath out of him,” Putman wrote in the citation.

Thomas Kristen

Thomas Kristen, 25, of Glasgow, was arrested Aug. 19 at White Oak Recovery Center in Inez on two bench warrants from Barren District Court. Sheriff Kirk served the warrant.

An arrest is an accusation. All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
