Jimmy Dale Allen
1936—2025
Jimmie Dale Allen, born Feb. 12, 1936, in Inez, passed away peacefully Aug. 23, 2025, at the age of 89.
Jimmie lived a long and meaningful life, marked by love, devotion and faith. He served his country with honor in the United States Army before pursuing higher education at Morehead State University. After earning his degree, he began his career in education, teaching at Inez High School and shaping the lives of many young people. He later worked in the coal industry and retired from Wolf Creek Collieries.
In addition to his career and service, Jimmie was a proud member of the Freemasons and Shriners, where he built lasting friendships and lived out his commitment to fellowship, charity and community. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Martin County Historical Society. In his free time, Jimmie enjoyed working on his family farm in Winchester, working with, raising and riding horses, and working in his garden — pursuits that reflected his love of the land and the simple joys of life.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his strong sense of family, and his dedication to both work and community.
He is survived by his son, James David Allen and wife Lynetta; his daughter, Susan Allen; his beloved grandchildren, Joseph, Sara and Logan; his sisters, Linda Fannin and Barbara Wicker; and his brother, Eddie Allen.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Amy Allen; his infant son, Timothy Allen; his parents, Bill and Madge Allen; and his brother, Jack Allen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of Jimmie.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Martin County Historical Society. Callaham Funeral Home can provide further information on how you can donate.
Though Jimmie is no longer with us, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed. Rest in peace.
