INEZ — The Martin County Fiscal Court honored former code enforcement officer Paul McCoy on Thursday. Judge/Executive Lon Lafferty and magistrates presented him with a certificate of appreciation for his service to the county.
Lafferty praised McCoy for his wide-ranging contributions. He noted McCoy’s efforts in code enforcement, festival support, cleanup project and work with inmates.
“We want to honor you, Paul, for the hard work that you’ve done,” Lafferty said. “Milo Lake has never looked as good as it does now from the work that you did over there, and so many other facilities.”
Deputy Judge/Executive Carolea Mills also presented McCoy with a certificate from the Christmas in the Mountains committee, thanking him for his volunteer efforts with the annual holiday event.
McCoy, of Inez, began serving as code enforcement officer in October 2020. Before that he spent two years as a bailiff in Martin Circuit Court and earlier work at the Big Sandy Detention Center in Paintsville. He recently stepped down from his position, citing an injury.
Accepting the certificates, expressing thanks.
“Without the inmates, it never would have happened,” he added.
