PAINTSVILLE — Martin County’s Kenadie Evans defended her crown at the All “A” Regional tournament Aug. 18. She shot an 81 at Paintsville Country Club to win her second straight title and earn a spot in the All “A” State Tournament.

Evans will represent the Cardinals on Sept. 6 at the University Club of Arlington in Richmond as she looks to build on back-to-back regional victories.

Martin County also turned in one of its strongest team showings of the season, carding a 348 with four personal-best rounds. Ryder Duncan and Blake Lemaster each shot 86, Dylan Hale followed with an 87 and Avery Duncan finished at 89. Gaven Grace added a 104.

On the girls’ side, Mia James posted her best score yet with a 111 in just her second tournament appearance.

The Cardinals combined for several birdies on the day and strung together numerous pars.

Evans’ regional championship came just two days after she shot a career-low 80 to win the girls’ title at the Paintsville Invitational.

The Cardinals finished with a team score of 378 in that event, led by Avery Duncan with a 91, followed by Lemaster at 94, Ryder Duncan at 95 and Hale at 98.
