NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — The Mingo County Public Service District was one of seven water and sewer service districts in the state that were either awarded grants or received a low-interest loan by the West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council.
The grants and/or loans, which were announced last week by Gov. Patrick Morrisey, are to be used to address water and sewer projects.
“By upgrading critical infrastructure, we’re protecting public health, strengthening our communities, and creating the conditions for long-term economic growth,” Morrisey said. “This is how we build a West Virginia that works for everyone.”
The Mingo County PSD received a $195,684 IJDC Critical Needs grant to address the failures at the Naugatuck water treatment plant, which officials said affects 4,531 customers in Mingo County. The funds will replace the pump and other appurtenances within the system, officials said.
