AUXIER — Police arrested a Floyd County man Saturday evening after they say he threatened to kill a U.S. Postal Service employee and later made similar threats toward sheriff’s deputies on social media.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and officers from the Prestonsburg Police Department went to the home of Jonathan J. Howell in the Auxier community around 6 p.m. to serve an arrest warrant.
The warrant followed allegations that Howell made the threats earlier in the day, including a post on Facebook targeting deputies.
Howell was taken into custody without incident, the sheriff’s office said. He faces two counts of terroristic threatening, as well as charges of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and menacing.
He was booked into the Floyd County Jail.
