Martin County golfers with strong performance at Ashland Invitational

ASHLAND — Martin County’s boys golf team continued to gain valuable experience Monday competing in the Ashland Invitational Tournament at Bellefonte Country Club.

Blake Lemaster led the Cardinals with a score of 91. Ryder Duncan followed with a 99, while Avery Duncan posted a 103. Gaven Grace rounded out the team’s scoring with a 113.

Head coach Boo Newsome was pleased with the team’s continued development as they navigate a challenging schedule.

“The boys continue to be exposed to great courses and better competition,” Newsome said. “These tournaments are great practice for postseason tournaments. We are a younger team and continue to get better each timeout.”

The Cardinals will return to action in their next invitational as they prepare for postseason play.
