Lovely man charged in domestic violence case

LOVELY — A Lovely man was arrested Friday night on charges of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) causing minor injury and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Deputy Jameson Wall of the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Walnut Drive/Riverfront Road around 8:12 p.m. after receiving a report of an assault. Police said Brian Shane Jude, 49, allegedly attacked a female and a male juvenile at the home before fleeing the scene.

According to the arrest citation, the female told officers that a verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. She had visible scratches on her arm and bruising on both arms and around her neck. The male juvenile suffered a scratch on his leg while attempting to defend her, police said.

Law enforcement located Jude down the street around 10:40 p.m. and took him into custody. Officers reported he smelled strongly of alcohol and admitted to drinking earlier that evening.
