INEZ — With the Appalachian Artist Festival just around the corner, volunteers rolled up their sleeves Saturday morning to clear trash and debris from the creek and surrounding area in downtown Inez.
Organizer Madison Mooney said the group pulled eight tires, several large and heavy metal pipes, and filled 20 bags with garbage during the annual Creekwalk Cleanup.

The effort focused on the area along Whickerfield and Court Street, where the festival will take place Aug. 2.
“What an amazing cleanup and turnout,” Mooney said, thanking the volunteers for turning out in force.
