INEZ — An Inez woman’s Friday ended in handcuffs and a fresh felony charge after authorities say she threatened to kill a deputy and the sheriff.
Martin County Deputy Steven Putman arrested 35-year-old Angeleah Maynard at around 8 p.m. on Blacklog Road on an indictment from Lawrence County for theft by unlawful taking or disposition of a firearm. She also had two bench warrants related to felony charges in Hardin County.
But the arrest quickly turned hostile.
According to the incident report, Maynard repeatedly told Putman she would have him “killed.” She then allegedly threatened to kill Martin County Sheriff John Kirk and his children once she got out of jail.
At one point, Maynard reportedly warned, “I do not miss a shot and will snipe” both the deputy and the sheriff.
The threats led to a new charge: terroristic threatening in the second degree, a felony involving substantial conduct to prepare or carry out violence.
Maynard remains in custody at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center. Her bond is $25,000 for the new charge, $5,000 for the indictment and $1,000 on one of the bench warrants.
