INEZ — A Warfield man accused of a felony drug charge is being fast-tracked through the system under the Rocket Docket program.
Martin Circuit Court Judge J. Kevin Holbrook issued formal charges Monday against Donald Perkins, 40.
Perkins faces one count of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine), a class D felony, and one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor. He also faces various traffic charges: no motorcycle operator’s license, no/expired registration plates, no/expired registration receipt and failure of the owner to maintain required insurance.
According to the Commonwealth Attorney, the charges stem from a June 24 traffic stop in Warfield, during which police allegedly found methamphetamine in Perkins’ possession.
The judge set Perkins’ arraignment for July 17.
The Rocket Docket program accelerates the prosecution of non-violent and lower-level cases, often connecting defendants with treatment or pretrial services while reducing jail time.
