Martin County Arrest Report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Ryan Sites

Ryan Sites, 46, of Tomahawk, was arrested Monday on Main Street in Inez on a warrant charging him with intimidating a participant in a legal process and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd served the warrant after Sites turned himself in at the Courts Building.

Martin Cline

Martin Cline, 61, of Lovely, was arrested Monday on Riverfront Road in Lovely on two bench warrants related to charges of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree (over 4 grams cocaine), trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree (less than 2 grams methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia buy-possession, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving. Deputy Steven Putman served the warrants at 1:18 a.m.

Sherry Ann Horn-Gordon

Sherry Ann Horn-Gordon, 48, of Lovely was arrested Monday on Riverfront Road in Lovely on a warrant charging her with trafficking in controlled substance in the first degree (over 4 grams cocaine), trafficking in controlled substance in the first degree (less than 2 grams methamphetamine) and drug paraphernalia-buy/possession. Deputy Putman served the warrant at 1:18 a.m.

William Tyson Compton

William Tyson Compton, 44, of Delbarton, West Virginia, was arrested Monday in Warfield on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and a bench warrant.

Deputy Steven Putman reported that while patrolling he spotted Compton parked at Walgreens in Warfield with his hazard lights flashing. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers made contact with Compton, who allegedly stated, “Everything is okay. My friend is just drunk.”

Putman noted that Compton had slurred speech and that a man was “passed out” in the passenger seat. According to the report, there were open bottles of alcohol in the vehicle’s cup holder.

Buddy Leslie Simpson

Buddy Leslie Simpson, 58, of Debord, was arrested Monday in Inez on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substances.

Deputy Jameson Wall reported stopping a 2006 Honda Accord on Old Middle Fork Road after seeing it crossing the center line. Simpson allegedly told the deputy that he had taken “half a strip” of suboxone earlier in the day.

Chief Deputy Kidd responded to the scene and conducted a field sobriety test.

Christopher Lee Maynard

Christopher Lee Maynard, 42, of Lovely, was arrested Sunday on Little Peter Cave Road, Lovely, on charges of terroristic threatening-first degree, criminal mischief-first degree, public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol), wanton endanger-first degree and disorderly conduct-first degree.

Deputy Putman responded to a residence on Little Peter Cave Road where Maynard’s parents were outside and “scared for their lives.” They told officers that Maynard threatened to kill them.

As deputies approached the doorway, Maynard reportedly wielded a knife, saying the deputies “would die or have a fight on our hands.” When deputies entered the doorway, Maynard started to fight with Constable Bradford Preece, who tased him in an attempt to gain control. According to the police report, Maynard continued fighting, prompting Preece to tase him a second time.

EMS checked Maynard at the scene, during which time Maynard allegedly told police officers, “If I was not in these handcuffs, I would kill you.” During transport to the Sheriff’s Office, Maynard was punching the divider glass and trying to break the windows out of the cruiser, Putman said.

Christopher Arthur Scott

Christopher Arthur Scott, 19, of Lovely, was arrested Sunday on charges of failure of owner to maintain required insurance, no registration receipt and no registration plates.

Deputy Putman responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident at the Lovely post office at around 3:23 p.m. According to the police report, Scott ran his 1997 black Dodge Ram truck into the front left side of the post office.

“Subject stated his brakes went out,” Putman reported.

Kevin Michael Maynard

Kevin Michael Maynard, 38, of Warfield, was arrested Saturday at Dempsey Housing for alcohol intoxication in a public place.

Constable Bradford Preece responded to a call about a verbal altercation between two males at the housing complex. The officer reported that he found Maynard outside on the porch drinking beer.

Holly N. Barnett

Holly N. Barnett, 42, of Inez, was arrested Thursday on Main Street, Inez, for contempt of court/resistance to order.

Deputy Jameson Wall served Barnett with a warrant from Henderson County. The police report states the court ordered Barnett to stay at White Oak/Addiction Recovery Care, but Barnett left the facility. She allegedly told the police, “I don’t care. I am not staying there,” and refused to return.

Henry Kyle Butcher

Henry Kyle Butcher, 27, of Lovely, was arrested July 10 on Emily Creek in Pilgrim on charges of careless driving and fleeing or evading police second degree (motor vehicle).

Deputy Putman stated that Butcher veered into the path of his cruiser, almost hitting it head-on on Emily Creek Road. The deputy activated his emergency lights, but Butcher “kicked down” and sped off instead of stopping. Putman said that Butcher eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without further incident.

Garnett Elaine Nicole Scott

Garnett Elaine Nicole Scott, 36, of Lovely, was arrested July 10 at the junction of Emily Creek and State Route 1714 in Pilgrim on a charge of possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine).

Deputy Wall reported that Scott told officers she had a small bag of meth in her purse. Deputies recovered approximately 1 gram of suspected methamphetamine.

Mikaylah Rowlett

Mikaylah Rowlett, 26, of Jackson, was arrested July 10 at White Oak/Addiction Recovery Care in Inez on a bench warrant from Perry County. Deputy Wall served the warrant.

Shawn Douglas Hopkins

Shawn Douglas Hopkins, 30, of Inez, was arrested July 9 at Horn’s BP on State Route 645, Tomahawk, on a bench warrant. Deputy Putman served the warrant.
