INEZ — The Martin County Board of Education marked a milestone Monday evening, honoring a group of dedicated educators who are stepping into retirement after decades of service to the school district.
Superintendent Larry James led the celebration, presenting each retiree with a clock — a symbolic token of appreciation for the years these individuals devoted to students, classrooms, and the greater mission of public education.
“We’re all happy for you,” James said as the spotlight turned to those who have helped shape generations.
Among those honored was Kathy Kerr, who served 35 years in the district. James, known for keeping the mood light, quipped, “You’re coming back in 90 days, right?”
“Yes,” Kerr replied with a smile, prompting laughter and applause from the room.
