INEZ — The Big Sandy Area Community Action Program will begin accepting applications July 28 for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Summer Subsidy, offering help to households struggling with cooling costs.
The application window runs through Sept. 12 on a first-come, first-served basis at local service offices.
To qualify, applicants must be responsible for their home’s electric bill and meet income guidelines.
Household size and gross monthly income determine eligibility. For example, a household of one must earn no more than $1,883 per month, while a family of four must have a monthly income of no more than $3,900.
Applicants must provide:
- Proof of Social Security number or permanent residency (Green Card) for all household members
- Proof of income for all household members for the previous month
- A current electric bill or documentation from a landlord or utility provider if electricity is included in rent or paid via pre-pay programs
Receiving aid from previous LIHEAP components does not affect current eligibility.
