Mable Bowen
1936—2025

Mable Bowen, 88, of Inez, passed away at her home Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Born Aug. 9, 1936, in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Violet Bowen.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Columbus Bowen Jr., one son, Robert Lee Bowen, and six siblings, Ronald Bowen, Ray Bowen, Nebert Bowen, Ruby McGinnis, Roger Bowen and Oakley Bowen.

Survivors include Mable’s children, Wilma (Dan) Watkins of Venice, Florida, Darrell (Shirley) Bowen of River, David (Jinny) Bowen, Sue (Conrad) Horn, Donald Bowen, Juanita (Arthur) Maynard, Ricky (Dena) Bowen, Ladonna (Ronnie) Hall and Steve Bowen, all of Inez, Jennifer (Phillip) Vanhoose of Staffordsville; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings, Kathy (Bobby) Patrick, Ford Bowen, both of Louisa, Dennis (Alisha) Bowen, Ralph Bowen, both of Alabama, Clauster (Marita) Bowen, Rose Mary (Johnny) Spaulding, all of Inez, and Delphie Sampson of North Carolina.

Funeral services took place Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Vineyard United Baptist Church in Inez, with John Goble, Richard Maynard and Benny Joe Fitch officiating. Burial followed at the Bowen Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
