12U brings home runner-up

PRESTONSBURG — The Martin County All-Stars represented the community well in the Cal Ripken District 3 tournament last week at Stonecrest. The 12U were deemed the runner-up after falling short in the championship game to Pikeville.
12U – The championship match featured Martin County against Pikeville on Saturday. After falling just shy to the Panthers in the first round 2-1 Thursday, Martin County couldn’t get the bats going in the final round and lost 8-0.
The squad easily defeated Shelby Valley in their second game Friday 16-1.
Gunner Broaddus, Beckam Spaulding, Jonah Mills, Jayce McCoy, and Kruz Howell all rang up two hits each for Martin County.

Kayden McCoy and Spaulding each drove in three runners for the All-Stars. McCoy also scored two runs.
Mills saw two runners round the bases off his hits.

Parker Stafford, Kaiden Bertling and J. McCoy ran around the horn twice for Martin County.
Broaddus collected an RBI and crossed home plate three times himself.
Bentlee Copley rocked a hit and stepped on home.
Brantley Marcum scored a run for the All-Stars in the win.

In the narrow loss to Pikeville in the first round, Broaddus knocked two hits, including a double for Martin County.
Spaulding recorded a hit and Stafford scored the lone run for the red, blue and white.
J. McCoy banged out a hit and drove in Stafford.

10U – Martin County was tied at four runs each with Johnson County before JC managed two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the win Saturday.
Lyric Howell tied the game up after stealing three bases following his hit past the shortstop. He scored two runs on the day.

Jase Vanhoose finished the afternoon collecting a hit, one run, and an RBI for Martin County.

In Thursday’s game against Pikeville, Martin County lost 2-1 in a tight game.

Howell and Tyler Allen both rang up a hit. Jude was the only run on the scoreboard for the All-Stars.

8U – The bottom of the fifth spelled doom for Martin County in Saturday’s 13-9 loss to Lawrence County.
Waylon Porter drove in a runner with a hit to center to pull MC within one in the top of the inning.

Kash Jude sent a rocket past the shortstop that saw a runner come home to tie the score.
LC scored five in the bottom of the inning to get the win.
Martin County defeated Johnson County Gold 20-11 Thursday.

Porter scored four runs in the win. Willie Porter and Finley Goforth both rounded the bases three times.
Howell, K Nezbeth and Kash Jude scored twice for MC. A. Allen, Ezra Bowen and Colin Chapman each scored a run.
