Traffic alert: Daytime road closure June 9 on KY 2032; delays on KY 292 and KY 40

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

MARTIN COUNTY — With drilling work wrapping up on KY 292 near Warfield Elementary School, work crews will move to KY 2032 at mile point 4.17 Monday, June 9, requiring a daytime closure.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 12 officials announced Friday that KY 2032 is a “short site.” They anticipate finishing the drilling work by Monday afternoon.

As the drilling crew relocates, motorists along the site on KY 292 should prepare for continued delays this week. A cribbing crew will remain on-site to backfill the area and complete final repairs.

Officials also announced that once the contractor finishes drilling on KY 2032, the crew will move to a site on KY 40. That location will remain open to traffic. However, motorists should expect extended wait times over several days as crews work to stabilize the roadway.

“We appreciate the public’s continued patience as these critical slope and roadway repairs are completed,” District 12 officials said. “These infrastructure improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to keeping roads safe and reliable throughout Martin County and the region.”

Transportation officials urge motorists to drive with caution in all work zones.

The Mountain Citizen will announce more details as they become available.
