INEZ — A Williamson, West Virginia, man faces formal charges in connection with a drug-related incident that occurred earlier this spring.

The Martin Circuit Court on May 27 announced that Brian K. Runyon, 53, stands accused of first-degree possession of a controlled substance and public intoxication involving a controlled substance.

Prosecutors allege Runyon was in possession of methamphetamine when law enforcement took him into custody April 13. The information states that he was under the influence to the point of endangering himself or others.

Circuit Judge J. Kevin Holbrook set Runyon’s arraignment for June 5.

The case is proceeding through the Rocket Docket program, a process designed to resolve nonviolent criminal cases more efficiently. The goal is to reduce court backlogs and expedite access to sentencing, treatment or rehabilitation for eligible defendants.
