Ralph Johnson

1953—2025

Ralph Johnson, 72, passed away May 19, 2025, at Pikeville Medical Center.

Born Feb. 1, 1953, in Martin County, he was the son of the late Arb and Clistie (Bowen) Johnson. In addition to his parents, Ralph is preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Johnson, and three children, Baby Johnson, Ellen Rene Hickman, and Robbie Lee Hickman.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Rose (Reed) Johnson; seven children, Immanuel (Christy) Johnson, Ralphie (Stephanie) Johnson, Becky (Greg) Newsome, Lisa (Tommy) Maynard, David (Tonya) Chaffins Jr., Joey (Tierra) Hickman, and Linda Hickman; four sisters, Ruth Ann Maynard, Marlene Daniels, Charlene (Dennis) Tiller, Irene (Richard) Whitt; two brothers, Paul (Moretta) Johnson and James (Della) Johnson; Calvin Maynard, Bill Mollett, and John Spaulding, who were like brothers; and Myrtle Maynard and Rosemary Spaulding who were like sisters to him. Ralph is also survived by his grandbabies, Little Immanuel, Jake, Mikie, Greg (Mary Lou) Johnson, Austin (Marissa) Johnson, DeeDee, Fannie, Christopher, Big Jake, Brandie, Mary, Little Ernie, Justin, Zack (Malissa) Newsome and several others, and great-grandbabies Jaylene, Jayden, Julian, Jonah, Mason, Andrew, Jasmine, Isabella, Kayden, Bryson, Justin, Ariah, Faith, Joy, Alice, Chandler, one on the way and several others; mother-in-law Linda (Lonnie) Mullett; father-in-law, Albert (Mary) Reed; sisters-in-law Kitty Reed, Stephanie Moore, Naomi Ratliff; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends whom he loved very much.

Funeral services took place Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Old Route 3 Independent Baptist Church with Albert Goble and James Sizemore officiating. Burial followed at the Johnson Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
