
INEZ — Free summer meals and grocery assistance are available to children through two programs fighting food insecurity while school is out.
Martin County Schools Food Service will provide free meals to children ages 1 to 18 through the Sun Meals To-Go program. A separate initiative will deliver a one-time $120 EBT benefit to eligible students.
Meals will be available for pickup at designated sites across the county with no requirement to eat on-site. Children who visit the sites can also receive free books.
Bus delivery will run Monday through Friday from June 2 to June 27. Breakfast and lunch will be distributed according to the following schedule:
Dempsey Housing – 10:45 to 11:15 a.m.
Riverside Apartments – 11:25 to 11:45 a.m.
Union United/Emily – 12:10 to 12:30 p.m.
Quail Hollow – 10:45 to 11:10 a.m.
Tomahawk Fire Department – 11:25 to 11:45 a.m.
Triple A Yard Sale – 12:10 to 12:30 p.m.
In addition, Gov. Andy Beshear announced that eligible students will receive a one-time $120 benefit through the Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Program.
Children ages 6 to 18 who currently receive SNAP, KTAP, or Kinship Care benefits will be automatically enrolled, as well as those attending schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program.
Families whose children are not automatically enrolled may apply online at kysebt.ky.gov through Aug. 15. For help, contact the Department of Community Based Services at 855-306-8959 or visit a local office.
