The Environmental Health Department plays a crucial role in protecting the health of Martin County citizens by monitoring and assessing the environment in which we live. Under the leadership of Patrick Boyd, Environmental Health Specialist, the department works diligently to ensure a safe and healthy community through a variety of services.
Our environmental team conducts inspections, surveys, and investigations to enforce a range of important programs that safeguard public health. Some of the key areas of focus include:
On-Site Sewage System Inspections: Ensuring that septic systems are functioning properly to prevent contamination.
Food Inspections: Monitoring local restaurants and food establishments to ensure safe food handling and preparation practices.
School Building and Grounds Inspections: Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of our schools for students and staff.
Rabies Control: Protecting the community from rabies through education and control measures.
Through these efforts, the Environmental Health Department helps to maintain a high standard of health and safety for all Martin County residents. If you have any questions or concerns about any of these services, please reach out to Patrick Boyd at the Martin County Health Department at 606-298-7762 to learn more about the resources available to you.
Dorothy Dillon is the Health Program Development and Outreach Manager at the Martin County Health Department.
