INEZ — Martin Circuit Court formally charged a Warfield man Thursday in connection with a May 5 hit-and-run crash involving drugs.

Steven Ray Davis, 42, faces charges of leaving the scene of accident-failure to render aid or assistance, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in the first degree (methamphetamine), no/expired registration plates, and operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.

Authorities allege Davis struck another vehicle while impaired by methamphetamine or another intoxicating substance and fled the scene. The information says police found methamphetamine in his possession. It also states that he was driving without a valid license and did not possess or display the registration plate on the rear of the vehicle.

Judge J. Kevin Holbrook ordered Davis to appear for arraignment June 5.

The court is handling Davis’s case under the Rocket Docket program, which expedites non-violent felony drug cases to shorten pretrial detention and increase access to substance abuse treatment.
