DAVELLA — A UPS truck veering into ditches and darting down the four-lane led to a DUI arrest May 7 in Davella.

Police arrested 52-year-old Austin Woods of Hueysville on a charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Callers reported the UPS truck was “all over the road and running in the ditch” on New Route 3. One caller stated the driver hit the gas and passed them.

Martin County Sheriff John Kirk intercepted the vehicle and pulled Woods over.

Kirk noted an odor of alcohol on Woods’ breath. The police report states Woods admitted to drinking six beers.

He also allegedly told the sheriff that he had taken a drug test earlier that day.

A blood test is pending.
