INEZ — Damian Cheek and Harper Runyon are the Tommy’s Auto Sales Players of the Week.
Cheek, who recently signed to continue his career at Alice Lloyd College, became the all-time leading hitter in Martin County High School history against Pike Central on May 9 with his 118th hit.
In all three games this week, he went a perfect 3-3 at the plate.
Against Pike Central he also had one RBI. At East Carter, he crossed home twice and stole a base. In a game against Belfry, he drove in a runner and made his way into home for a score.
Runyon, a fifth grader at Inez Elementary, plays on the Martin County Middle School softball team.
She tossed her 100th strikeout this week and finished the season with 110. She struck out seven batters against Betsy Layne on May 8.
