NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — Tug Valley Lady Panthers will advance to Monday night’s sectional championship game against Sherman after defeating Huntington St. Joe 16-8 in an elimination game on Friday night.
Bailee Hall hit two more home runs and now has 12 on the season. She is among the state leaders in that statistic. The talented junior was 3 for 3 with five RBIs. At one point, she was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.
Caylee Steele and Katie Hall both had four hits, with Hall having four RBIs. Emma Lackey was 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Makenna Osborne also had three hits with a double and a run batted in.
Tug Valley improved to 20-10 on the season. They came from behind after trailing 4-0 and 5-3 early in the game.
The loss ends the Lady Irish’s season.
Lackey was the winning pitcher in relief of Bailee Hall.
K. Oxley was the losing pitcher for St Joe. She had a triple to help her own cause, while G. Hutchinson had a double for the Huntington school.
The Lady Panthers matched last year’s 20-win total and have already secured their sixth straight winning campaign.
Lady Panthers pound Tolsia
The long ball helped the Lady Panthers get off to a strong start in sectional tournament action on Tuesday, May 6.
Junior Bailee Hall belted a pair of home runs and freshman Emma Lackey smacked one off the left-centerfield fence to help Tug Valley pull out the win 7-0.
Hall has now hit nine home runs on the season, while Lackey has five. Hall also had a triple in the game with three total hits and scored three runs. Lackey and Katie Hall each had two hits, while Paisley Bolyard, Makenna Osborne and Kenadi Casey each had hits for TVHS.
Bailee Hall was the winning pitcher in the circle. She fanned nine Lady Rebels batters and walked three. She only gave up one hit in the tournament opener.
K. Salmons took the loss for Tolsia. C. Horn got the lone hit for the Lady Rebels.
Sherman 9, Tug Valley 2
Tug Valley lost in their second sectional tourney game to highly ranked Sherman 9-2 at their home field at Naugatuck on Wednesday, May 7.
Sherman led 3-2 after one inning and tacked on runs in the third and fifth frames. They pulled away with four runs in the top of the sixth.
Tug Valley had 10 hits but only managed to score two runs.
Aleksah Osborne, Zoey Hensley, Makenna Osborne and Bailee Hall all smacked doubles for Tug Valley. Both Bailee Hall and Katie Hall had two hits for the home team.
L. Lowe led the Tide with three hits, while M. Harless, C. Plantz, and S. Drake each belted doubles.
Emma Lackey was the losing pitcher in the circle for TVHS. Bailee Hall came on in relief for Coach Rocky Hall’s squad.
E. Russell was the winning pitcher for Sherman.
