INEZ — In the wake of the devastating February floods, Wolf Creek Community Church fed the community and flood relief workers. For preparing and serving more than 1,500 meals, the Martin County Fiscal Court formally recognized the church during its April 17 meeting.

Church members Holly Hinkle, Marlene Fluty and Stephanie Sheppard appeared before the court to receive the commendation.

“They, as well as many other churches during the time of this disaster, did so much for their community,” Judge/Executive Lon Lafferty said. “We honor what you did and are proud to be fellow Martin Countians with you. It’s people like you who step up and make us who we are.”

Beyond providing meals, Wolf Creek Community Church’s flood relief included distributing water and cleaning supplies and hosting a vaccination clinic.
