PIKEVILLE — The Tug Valley Lady Panthers had a good showing in the Hillbilly Days Tournament held in Pikeville this past weekend. They went 2-2 against some top-notch talent.
Tug 8, Pike Cent 2
The Lady Panthers defeated the Lady Hawks on Friday, April 25.
Tug Valley only had two hits, one each by Bailee Hall and Emma Lackey. However, the Pike Central pitchers gave up several walks, along with some defensive errors, to help the Panthers score their runs.
Lackey was the winning hurler in the circle for TVHS. She had 10 strikeouts and only gave up one walk and three hits.
A. Stepp was the losing pitcher for PCC.
Tug 15, Morgan Co 0
The Lady Panthers rolled over Morgan County 10-0.
Bailee Hall was the winning pitcher. She helped her own cause with three hits, including a home run and a double.
Katie Hall had two hits and Emma Lackey had a base hit with three RBIs to lead the TVHS offense. Paisley Bolyard also had a hit for the Panthers.
Hall had six strikeouts, while Lackey came on in relief and struck out 3 in her time in the circle.
GRC 10, Tug 1
George Rogers Clark, a class 4A school with more than 1,600 students, defeated the Lady Panthers 10-1 in the double-elimination event.
Tug Valley only had one hit, a home run by Bailee Hall.
Emma Lackey took the pitching loss.
M. Parks was the winner for GRC.
GRC 13, Tug 12
George Rogers Clark edged by Tug Valley 13-12 in the second match-up of the two schools in the tourney Saturday, April 26. The Class A Lady Panthers played tough against the much larger school.
Tug Valley got its offense in gear with 10 hits in the game. Emma Lackey smacked four hits, including a homer and double and five RBIs. Bailee Hall and Katie Hall both had two hits, while Makenna Osborne had a hit with three RBIs.
Bailee Hall was the losing pitcher in relief of Lackey.
B. Guinn, J. Grigsby and J. Abner were the leading hitters for GRC. Grigsby was the winning pitcher for GRC.
