INEZ — Martin County Middle School celebrated their eighth graders on Thursday night in Inez. Ally McGinnis, Bri Muncy, Christal Hinkle, Laken Blevins, Annabelle Gess, and Haileigh Smith were honored in a ceremony before the Cards took on Williamson.

The Cards fell in an early hole before falling 12-3 to the Wolfpack.
Down 6-0 in the bottom of the first, Zoe Sammons punched a hit to center field. She made her way around the horn on three wild pitches for the first Cardinal score.
Taking the field in the second, Williamson cranked a bullet straight to Harper Runyon on the mound who quickly reacted and somehow caught it for the second out.
Runyon sent Williamson back to the dugout when she struck out a batter to end the inning.

In the following Wolfpack at-bat, catcher Bri Muncy got under a pop-up for an out.
Runyon tossed another strikeout to close the frame.
Eighth-grader Ally McGinnis snuck a hit between first and second base for a single.
With Sammons on base, Runyon drove her in for a score.

Muncy sent a hit down the line for an RBI as Runyon slid across home to beat the throw.
Cardinal Macie Callaham stepped up and knocked a hit to advance Muncy.
With runners left on base, the Cards couldn’t muster up enough runs.
The Lady Cards are scheduled for their final regular season game tomorrow versus Betsy Layne in Inez.
