YELLOW CREEK — What began as a domestic dispute turned dangerous when a 62-year-old Martin County man allegedly fired a gun at his wife, authorities said.

Police arrested Thornton Eddie Goble of Yellow Creek on a felony charge of first-degree wanton endangerment shortly before 10:30 p.m. April 29, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff John Kirk responded to the incident at a residence about 10 miles north of Inez, where Goble had reportedly been drinking before the situation escalated.

According to the police report, Goble and his wife were arguing when she attempted to walk away from the home. He allegedly followed her to the roadway in front of a neighbor’s house, where witnesses said he fired a shot. Moments later, witnesses reported that he circled back in his vehicle and fired a second shot.

Two other adults and two children were present during the incident, police said.

Goble allegedly admitted to firing one round but claimed he did so to get his dog into his vehicle.
