Betty Joy Marcum
1951—2025

Betty Joy Marcum, 73, of Kermit, West Virginia, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at the Tug Valley ARH Medical Center in South Williamson, Kentucky.

She was born Nov. 29, 1951, in Paintsville, Kentucky, to the late Harlan and Pricey Chaffin.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Bernard Chaffin.

Betty is survived by her loving husband, Walter Marcum; three children, Katrena Marcum and Heather Marcum, both of Kermit, West Virginia, and Marshall (Bailee) Marcum of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Hannah (Cody) Salmons, Hailee Ward, Kelsey Marcum, Bryson Marcum and Kiera Marcum; and eight great-grandchildren, Trenton Preece, Addisyn Preece, Kora Barton, Anthony Marcum, Gracelyn Salmons, Colson Salmons, Jase Salmons and Brayden Salmons. She is also survived by her siblings, Carol Varney, Sue Hatcher, Beverly Slone, Harlan Chaffin, Alice Thornton and Charlie Sepko.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Kermit Freewill Baptist Church, with Bo Scott and Damien Sammons officiating. Burial followed at the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Maher, West Virginia. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
