Cardinal tennis results: Boys defeat JC

INEZ — The Martin County High School tennis teams competed in two matches and notched some victories against Ironton and Johnson Central.

The boys team battled at Ironton to a 5-5 draw on April 1. Ironton entered the match noted for returning Division 3 state qualifiers.

For Martin County, singles wins came from Connor Dials (7-5, 3-6, 6-4), Bryson Dials (6-4, 0-6, 6-3), BJ Parsley (6-4, 7-5), and Chloe May (8-2).

Shawn Marcum (0-6, 0-6), Corey Endicott (5-8), and Anthony Mann (2-6) were defeated in their singles matches.

In doubles play, the team of Caleb Horn and Byron Marcum secured a victory (6-0, 7-5), while the pairs of BJ Parsley/Chase Hinkle (4-6, 2-8) and Aiden Copeland/Brayden Marcum (0-8) lost their matches.

On April 8 the Cardinals hosted Johnson Central. The Martin County boys team earned a 4-1 victory.

Singles wins were recorded by Connor Dials (8-2), Rex Ward (8-2), and Corey Endicott (8-1). Anthony Mann lost his match (2-6).

In doubles, BJ Parsley and Cole Damron won a tight contest (9-8, 7-5). The teams of Byron Marcum/Caleb Horn (5-8) and Caden Mann/Liam Fields (2-6) were defeated.

On the girls side, Dakota Ward secured a singles win (6-3).

Chloe May and Addison Kerr fell in their singles matches (2-8). Laura Hale lost a tough one in a tie-breaker (8-9, 4-7).

In doubles, the pairs of Chloe Alley/Grace Caldwell (0-8), Vittoria Dellamotta/Ida Heinsen (0-6), and Bella Marcum/Kadence Blackburn (0-6) were unsuccessful.
